Attack of the Clones...Imax style!

Post by Hipnotic_Tranz »

Saw my first Imax show last night and it was pretty sweet. Seating was great (as in it was stadium seating so you didn't have to worry about looking over somebodies head) and the audio was fantastic. Though they did cut out some parts from the movie which I recently found out the reason being was that imax theaters can only supports 120min of film. This made the film "better" in parts but kinda choppy in others (they cut out the ENTIRE scene with Padmé & Anakin havin' a pic-nic) and they cut out some small things like when anakin confesses his love, etc. (not the entire scene parts parts of the scene) Personally if you haven't seen the movie yet, I would say see the DVD version before the imax version.

Something else I noticed was when I got there it seemed like it was too zoomed in, I'm not a fan of P&S and prefer wide-screen anyday but I got used to it and the battles were pretty intense and in your face. I recommend it to any SW fan :) I really wish regular theaters would get their act together. We pay atleast $8 now-a-days to see a movie and we get uncomfortable seats, poor sound, and screens with crap all over it.

I was kinda let down by it, cuz they had to trim it down to 1.85:1 from the original 2.35:1 ratio and it hurt IMO. (Standard IMAX is 4:3.)

Most of the cuts weren't missed, but they should've left in the scene where Padme goes, "Ani? Is that you?", at the beginning, cuz it's really important to show that they haven't seen each other in a decade.

Other cuts:
 • Lots of family stuff
 • The scene with the new Naboo queen.
 • Boba rotating Slave One and firing the cannons. (WTF did they cut from the MIDDLE of an action scene?)
 • Yoda on his flying saucer with Obi-Wan and Mace in the Jedi Temple
 • The Jedi Library scene.
 • When Yoda and Mace are informed of the Clone Army and Mace wants to tell the Senate.
 • A bunch of other stuff that escapes me at the moment.
