I dont think it was that great! I saw the 80's version of the movie and basically is the same, the first part was long. very long almost 50 min. of nothing. The island part was great! and Jack Black do a good job. then back to the city hmmmmm! I Will say this movie was like a 6.7 I partially agree with the effects some werent so great anyway this movie will be a nice rental, but nothing beyond that. (at least for me) I saw people leaving from the theater after 2 hs... and the movie is almost 3hs! too long pal for a movie plotless/

i think a big screen was a must for this movie - i just don't think a TV will do the movies special effects justice . the movies tribal scenes were very well done by the make up artist's . they sure had me saying im sure glad i didn't have to confront them even in a lighted room !i think i would crap my pants

Finally saw King Kong tonight, and Peter Jackson has another masterpiece. What an outstanding job he did. This flick had it all: action, romance, adventure, and love. As for the Island part, talk about total action non-stop. The special effects were excellent, and I compare them to Lord of the Rings but even better. I thought Spielberg was good, but Jackson IMHO has taken over as the action director. For those that have not seen this flick, see it before it leaves the theater. Out of 10 stars, I give this movie a 9.

I just bought this movie last friday (after seeing it in the theaters) Thought it was a very impressive even though it was very long. I really like longer movies, espictaly if I have lots of time to kill.
Yay for Peter Jackson, and I hope his directing in "Halo: The Movie" will be just as good.
