I posted this on FB and one of my old college buddies who is a musician said "Aha!" and said (on the groove size and the variable RPM) that is why we've always had trouble staying in tune when trying to play along with the old jazz masters! BTW - there is some really cool old stuff in there .

I'm impressed with the project. I never started collecting 78's because you pretty much have to have a dedicated turntable, several cartridges, and a pre-amp capable to being adjust for the equalization curve. There were no standards then so every recording company used what they wanted. The Shellac records are also brittle and require their own special care. There's a lot a really cool one-off recordings from that era.

Interesting, I was actually expecting to see that they were scanning the records instead of actually playing them.
