Spielberg HBO Documentary

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Awesome documentary. It gave me a hell of an appreciation for how he directs. There's some movies I have to re-watch to catch some of the subtitles they discussed in this documentary.

I also never knew he spend 7 years directing TV series I grew up with like Night Gallery and Name of the Game.

Highly recommended. 93% on Rotten Tomatoes:

Yeah I've seen it twice already. Excellent documentary on the man. I really enjoyed one of his first movies - Duel . Came out in 1971, but his big smash was Jaws in 1975.

I remember seeing Duel when it first came out. That was pretty intense for it's time.

I love how the studio wanted an explosion at the end after he worked so hard at slowly "killing" that truck. Glad he stood his ground. Much more effective ending that way.

In that movie... did the truck have a driver or was it some kind of possessed truck like in Maximum Overdrive?

It had a driver. If you never seen it before, it's worth watching.
