READY PLAYER ONE - Official Trailer 1 [HD]

Post by FlyingPenguin »

I'm really worried they're going to botch this up.

I have a bit more confidence in Steven Spielberg.

I just can't see how they can possibly do it any justice in one movie, even if it's 2 1/2 hours long.

I know the trailer is out of sequence, cause trailers, but the all the racing BS still rankles deep, and the whole dingy warehouse and "welcome to the rebellion"? wtf are they doing? This needed to be at least 2 movies. Intro and the first 2 gates as the first movie, with the final gate in the second. 3 to 3 1/2 hours of movie time and it could have been great.

Yeah that "rebellion" thing threw me for a loop. Sounds like a whole new plot line that wasn't in the book.

Oh well. At least The Martian was good. Too much to hope that two of my fav recent Sci-Fi books would be done justice.

It is unlikely that they'll manage to equal the book, but hopefully the capture the essence.

Yeah, I'm becoming more and more disappointed with what I'm seeing. It makes me wonder if they even took the time to read the damn book.

Well this is promising. It got rave reviews after it premiered at SXSW.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/ready-playe ... s-at-sxsw/
Reviews indicate Spielberg has made some big changes to the material, but keeps the spirit intact and many of those changes are for the better with the first hour including “some of the most viscerally engaging filmmaking Spielberg has ever done.” Most say Spielberg has avoided the trap that many have been concerned about with the material’s over reliance and fetishisation of 1980s nostalgia. Amongst some of the quotes:

“Went into READY PLAYER ONE skeptical as hell. Came out largely as a joyous convert. I have a handful of issues with the structure and characters, but it improves on the book in important ways, the action is riveting, and I really bought the humor. #readyplayerone” – Tasha Robinson

“READY PLAYER ONE feels like Spielberg watched a ton of Luc Besson movies and decided to outdo them. In terms of pure spectacle, it’s the most astonishing thing he’s done. Never underestimate Steve. #SXSW” – Eric Kohn

“READY PLAYER ONE: So so so much movie. Sometimes too much but what I kept thinking over and over again was “my kids are gonna LOVE THIS.” It is joyous and thrilling for the people who it’s designed to joy and thrill.” – Brian Tallerico
"Turns out I’m 'woke.' All along, I thought I was just compassionate, kind, and good at history. "
