Oh come on, the Jeeps are supposed to be rough & uncomfortable & heck unsafe. They don't have a roof for goodness sake. One of the main styling cues that they wanted to inherit from previous generations is exposed hinges. It's funny because my Jeep magazine is declaring the new Jeeps too plush & girlie.

Consumer Reports gave the Wrangler only 17 out of 100 points overall (anything above 70 is considered a "good" score) and criticized its ride, handling, braking, noise, fuel economy, fit and finish, visibility, front-seat comfort and access. The SUV received a less-than-glowing assessment: "We expect reliability to be worse than average, according to our latest subscriber survey," the Yonkers, N.Y.-based agency said.

Did this guy even drive the vehicle? It's a Jeep Wrangler. The ride is rough, they are noisy, the interiors are minimalistic, and they aren't that comfortable. However, the fuel economy isn't worse that any other SUV. At least a Jeep Wrangler can actually go off road. I can't believe that the reviewer said visibility was a problem. Take the top off and you have a 360 view. The statement about the reliability is nonsense. The only reason they expect poor reliability is that it's a Chrysler product.

My wife and I have owned several Chrysler products (98 Wrangler, 00 Liberty, 07 Cherokee, 08 Avenger, and currently 10 Town and Country & Charger RT). They are not any less reliable than anything else on the road. In fact, we've have very few problems with them. If consumer reports would report facts rather than biased opinions, they'd know Chrysler has the fewest recalls in 2009 among GM, FORD, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota.

Behind the Numbers

To determine 2010's biggest clunkers, we revisited a series of worst-of-the-worst lists, starting with our own The Most Dangerous Cars On The Road, Most Dangerous Trucks on the Road and Cars that Lose Their Value the Fastest. (We included depreciation rates because depreciation is the biggest expense of owning a car, and gives insight into whether consumers like their cars, and if they perceive them as reliable.)

We also looked at the 34 least-reliable cars as rated by Consumer Reports, and all vehicles that received a score of two stars or less on JD Power and Associates' annual dependability ratings. Any 2010 model car that appeared on at least three of these five lists makes our final ranking of the year's biggest clunkers

In other words: "We needed to come up with a car article. We borrowed liberally from some articles we wrote before, dipped into the Consumer Reports reviews and glanced at some J.D. Power rankings. Beats working for a living...."

That list is only 5 cars too. Calling a 2 vs 4 door or sedan vs convertable as being different is absurd.
IMO, any real test is time it lasts in YEARS comparing actual problems. No one year old car (2010 model) has lived long enough to know that yet. Talk to me in 10+ yrs and we'll see how they all hold up.
