the only thing that i think isn't different is gas.

It all pretty much comes from the same place, i just go to where ever it's cheaper.

i use fram air filters, and castrol synthetic oil

I like the Fram one that has the teflon, really helps out my engine; no real horsepower increase, but it's smoother plus a bit better throttle response.
Main rig: Intel e2140 @ 3.0ghz, Asus P5K-E, 2x1gb Kingmax 1066mhz, 36gb 15k Fujitsu MAU, 500gb Maxline Pro,

Hey Viperoni, drop me an e-mail and I will hook you up with some additives.... How do you benchmark "throttle response"? Did you conclude that there was not increase in HP on a Dyno?

Its your money, but the entire aftermarket industry makes tons of profit on stuff that has no impact whatsoever on performance other than the subjective impressions of the buyer. I hate to see anyone get suckered by this stuff.
Perhaps someone could explain to me how Teflon in an oil filter "bonds" to engine components that have lived in a hot oil bath since the first time the key was turned.

Please save your money and don't fall for this crap. If you are hugely worried about the effects of contaminants, use a good HD oil and change it often. Teflon and other "miracles in a can" usually don't do much for preventing sludge buildup, which is one of the most common lubrication related problems in an engine. All of these Teflon products, in my opinion, are pure snake oil. Very few additives sold are worth anything at all.

I personally don't use FRAM filters as I think they use substandard filter media. However, if pressed, I could not back that up without research. Otherwise, I think it is crazy to buy the cheapest filter you can find. I use OEM filters mostly, or fall back on brands used by shops I trust (none of whom use FRAM filters.)

Filters are usually not a problem anyway. Not changing your oil when you should, is.

K&N CAI's and filters do show performance boosts, but far from the 10-25 HP they advertise, more like 5-7 at the rear wheels :P

Hi guys (new on this board)

This gentleman did a study on oil filters here:

Some very interesting findings... Fram is one of the worst...
