<a href=http://www.hwysafety.org/vehicle_rating ... m>Dakota's safety
NHTSA actually says the Dakota's safety is fine... they always seem to contradict IIHS. IIHS says the Tacoma is the safest of the small trucks, but the Tundra is the best of all pickups. Again, Tundra doesn't score as well at NHTSA.
Anyhow, I don't have any real insight on the Dakota, but make sure you pick a car/truck with good safety :)

i was thinking of buying it fromhim but the box was to small for me i need a 8 foot bos his was a 7ft and it was to thin between the wheel wella for a sheet of drywall or plywood with out adding 2x4s to lift the goods above the wheel well :(
but he drove the hell out of it for 3-4 years :)

Thanks for the info guys. It is good to hear that your bro-inlaw had no problems. From what I read the truck is pretty good in that respect.
That safety data is kinda scary though...... Not only that but in the 5mph crash tests it was a small fortune in repairs!!!

I currently have a '90 Dakota Sport 4x4. Best damned truck I have owned. Thinking about a new one but it's kinda nice not having a monthly payment.
