any info on the 2k3 maxima?

Post by nexus_7 »

this year it looks like the aultima is the superior car. I thought I read somewhere the new maxima will take what is good out of the new aultima and incorporate it into the 2k3 maxima. Just looking for info or pics. thanks

Greg, as far as I know the new Maxima will be built on a stretched Altima platform, and unfortunately, no longer in Japan. It will most likely be rear wheel drive, the size of the Toyota Avalon, and there are rumors for a V8. I know I won't be buying a car like that. Currently I have a 2000 Maxima SE 5spd and before that I had a 96 Infiniti I30t 5spd (similar to the Maxima). What I'm getting at is that I like Nissan and their Maxima platform till now, but I don't see the need to get a larger car just for the name. I will be awaiting the new G35, rear-wheel drive, 3.5L VQ engine, and 6 spd manual tranny. :) As far as the new Altima goes, it has great looks, a potent engine, and a better suspension. However, if you compare the quality of the interior with that of the Maxima, you may think twice about buying it.

that sounds rather disapointing for sure. :( I like the 2k2 look. yea I have a 2k maxima se as well Auto though. I agree on the interior of the Altima...rather cheep looking. the "Z" sports car is looking mighty intreasting.

Why would they make Any kind of sedan Real wheel drive though? that is just stupid! Guess we can only wait and wonder. if it is like that though I will pass on it and look into something else. Apperiate your info.

Well, rear wheel drive can be a good thing in the right hands (think BMW, he he). The problem with front wheel drive comes with bigger engines, it's hard to put down a lot of power to the front wheels and keep them planted. :) Enjoy your Maxima!

AWD would be slick but for a maxima rwd i would not be thrilled about. Im not saying RWD is bad by any means but for a sedan I think I would pass. It is like the car toyota had out befor the Avalon what ever it was. it was RWD and not great. That and the fact that I live near chicago there is no way I would get a RWD car for my main car. winters can get pritty nasty around here.

i have a 2002 altima se; it's got the 3.5 litre v6. i got it from towne & countree nissan/volvo/jaguar in indiana by donna. www.townecountree.com i got it for about 4% above cost + tax, title, etc. i had to wait a while so they could find one in silver that had just ABS and trac control as options. all the ones readily available that had ABS had all the options along with it... stuff i don't need and don't want to pay for. :P
