What cars have you owned???

Post by Snelski »

I've been accused of changing cars more than my underwear...this is of course not true, but some people think so - including my best friend. I guess I figure if I can't be Jay Leno and own every car at the same time, I can at least keep changing cars and own them separately one at a time...hehe

Here's a list of mine:

1. 1974 Toyota Corona 4dr (it was 'sucking' 4 qts of oil per 10 miles driven at the end)
2. 1974 Fiat X 1/9 (troublesome but lovable)
3. 1974 VW Super Beetle (accused of being pink, was actually Porsche Raspberry)
4. 1980 Fiat Strada (was sold to me with major frame damage)
5. 1978 Fiat X 1/9 (recipient of the Fiat Strada engine since its frame was toast)
6. 1981 Fiat X 1/9 (loved this car - silver w/black wheel and blue interior)
7. 1974 Fiat 128 Sportcoupe (wish I still had this - loads of fun)
8. 1981 Toyota Starlet (you wouldn't think it, but it was a fun car)
9. 1980 Fiat 124 Spyder (frame had a crack in it)
10. 1981 Fiat X 1/9 (project car never finished)
11. 1984 VW Jetta 2dr (dumped a GTI engine in it)
12. 1986 VW Scirocco 16V (loved this car, fun to drive & capable of constant 125mph...tested)
13. 1981 VW Rabbit Pickup (spent 3 years fixing it up and modding it)
14. 1988 VW Fox Wagon (used but like new - tricked out and modded)
15. 1989 VW Jetta Carat (silver with sunroof, loved this car)
16. 1997 VW Golf Trek (bought new - sold for same $$$ amount 1.5 yrs later)
17. 1997 Geo Tracker (bought new - was keyed after 3 months - most reliable car ever owned)
18. 1998 Chevrolet Venture (bought new - too many problems & dealer sucks)
19. 1990 Audi 100 (damaged by hail - totaled)
20. 1995 VW Jetta GLS (bought for $3700 sold for $5450)
21. 1995 VW Cabrio (damaged by hail - too much $$$ to fix)
22. 1988 VW Fox Wagon (bought car back - damaged by hail later - totaled :( )
23. 2001 Ford Taurus SES (surprisingly I really like this car - dark blue w/sport package)
24. 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon (rare sport package & only yellow Focus Wagon I know of)

In between I've had 4 motorcylces also, sometimes in place of a car.

Man, is that all???

Edit: since some of you are adding little stories next to the cars I figured I'd add some too :) ...

First car was a '64 ford galaxia 500 I bought for $200. Total
POS. Spent another 2 k 'trying' to fix it up.
70 hornet. Did well, till the brakes failed and I totaled it.
70 wagon (forget the name) Looked like a pos, but was very dependable.
First new car, '74 fiat x19. Loved it! Engine was a pos though.
'67 chevy truck
72 mazda rx2 - a backfiring hombre. Must of been feed beans.
75 fiat spider - tranz went out right as I hit the exit for disneyworld
78 mazda glc 5spd, loved the car, great on gas. People kept breaking off the rear wiper though
78 mg midget - loved this lil car
76 pinto - still wonder why i got this one
76 spitfire
77 LTD
80 ford fiesta
78 mg midget - another one
82 fiesta both had major trans troubles , a known problem. Fun to drive though
80 datsun pickup - very dependable. First day I had it painted, someone overnight ran a key deep in all along one side
88 ford tempo gls loaded
92 corsica - gal ran a stop sign, totaled the car
95 geo tracker
95 mazda 626

Probably missing some, if so I''ll correct later.

My God blade...you had a Fiat X1/9 also??? I used to work on those cars with a friend of mine who owned a mobil Fiat repair business. Wow, a fellow X1/9 owner...I'm impressed ;)

We used to take the 1500cc engines out of the newer models and put them in the earlier lighter models - they were fun to drive and I loved the Targa top :P

If I could find my list, my grandfather could beat us all.. He's had 36 cars to date (and still counting) lol..

Myself, not that many.

1. 1991 Chevy Cheyenne Sportside FS P/U
2. 1991 Mercury Cougar LS *FUN* Until the Main seal went out..
3. 1972 VW SuperBeetle (still have it, but needs new body, had a head on w/18Wheeler)
4. 1994 Pontiac GranAm

Now, I also had for short periods of time "in my possesion" though not owned by me..

1. 1996 Dodge Neon
2. 1972 Jeep Renegade *36" Lift Kit, felt like you were in a rocking chair on overpasses, but I could see eye to eye with the 18 wheelers.
3. 90ish Mazda MPV, this was a manual tranny minivan, lots of fun to drive lol

I've also had 2 motorcycles.

1. 1996 Suzuki DR Big 50cc *I later put a 75cc engine on it and it would do about 90mph. It was built on a 125cc frame it wasn't one of those mini bikes..
2. 1993 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 *Still got it, by far my most dependable vehicle ever.

I'll name a few of my grandfather's cars as I can remember them year models won't be included.

Dodge Dart
2xVW Beetles
Chevy Impala (old)
BMW ?
Alpha Romeo
Chevy Pickup (old)
Nash Rambler
1960 Ford Ranchero
1957 Ford Thunderbird
1967 Merc. Cougar
Hornet
Fiat Spider
MG ??

When I find the list I'll get more info here.. :)
