I wonder what insurance runs for cars like that. A claim like that has to hurt.

Most people with cars like that don't insure them. They usually pay out of pocket.

There was one casualty but he was not trapped
That quote doesnt quite fit in with the article. So was there a death in this accident? What caused the accident? Crazy article.

I was thinking about this today and it seems odd that those who obviously have the most money to buy a toy like that would then risk not buying insurance, why? Even if they can afford to fix or replace the car, what if they kill someone? That persons family would end up owning a huge chunk of their assets after the attorneys got hold of the situation, slam dunk.

It's actually not much different from regular insurance that only covers part of the cost. After a bit, it's your responsibility anyhow. But anyhow, insurance for these cars is astronomical ($3000/month). Most standard insurance companies won't even insure them, they usually have to use specialty insurance companies.

They must have liability at least. You have to also think that most wrecks like that are the cause of reckless driving so if they killed someone w\o any insurance at all, they'd be screwed.

$3k per month.....note to self, don't buy a car like that ;)
