Digital Dashboards of the 1980s
Re: Digital Dashboards of the 1980s
Gotta admit that I love the article. It really was like they tried to take Sci-Fi and put it into dashboards.
I ran into a number of these in my stereo install days. They were a nightmare to interface with. Not to say that today is much better, but we have better support now.

Re: Digital Dashboards of the 1980s
During the era, I fantasized about having a Knight Rider dashboard. Now that I am older, I can see how impractical and distracting it would be. But still, cool.
Christians warn us about the anti-christ for 2,000 years, and when he shows up, they buy a bible from him.

I was 7 or 8 when Knight Rider was on. I loved the show then and wanted a KITT. Now I hate anything bright in a can when driving at dusk or at night. I keep all interior lights on the lowest setting I can still see.FlyingPenguin wrote:During the era, I fantasized about having a Knight Rider dashboard. we owned a Buick somerset and it had a pod radio in it . also a digital dash always worried something would go hay wire with it .never did lucky for me. bought it new wife wanted the car so we bought it. it was a good car really till we let it go. we call it the orange pumpkin. the car was a burnt orange color .
