Older Teslas are Burning Out Their Flash Storage Chips

Basically, Teslas write so many logs to the chip that they are burning out. Out of warranty repair is ~$1,800.
This seems like a major over site when then designed this system. You'd think that the memory that holds the logs would be removable and replaced at recommended intervals.
