im seeing guys with 20 or more heat rating shipping video ,sound and other hardware in padded mailers .
i have been lucky so far and not had any DOA -but i know its going to happen
i see more arrive with the package torn by the brackets working though the bags then not .
my feeling is as most you know . a cardboard box is your friend its less lightly to be damaged while on route !
I'm maybe getting a little irate here but if the cards don't arrive in a carton I'm thinking of returning it to the sender and having him bay both ways !

I think your right. If you pay shipping then it should be well protected.
Those padded envelopes are only for solid objects. I got a few objects like that and the more you pay for shipping the better the packeging(sp) should be. But you should still stat what you expect, box, bubbles, peanuts just to be sure and then you have no questions when you decide to denie reciept.

Back long ago when I did my first trade, I sent a processor in a padded mailer, thinking it wouls be cool however it wasnt. So I guess I was lucky in that I learned early. I try to send only box stuff now, unless its a CD or sumtin..
My worst experience was when I bought a lot of 6 amplifiers on ebay and they put them all into a box and just shipped them. No padding between them and not even a tight enough fit for them not to shuffle around. By the time I got the box, two of them were poking out and you could tell that UPS had to tape it a whole bunch. The person got some major negative feedback. Did I mention that it was about $500 worth of amps?
Actually, a great way to send stuff is in that cheap tuperware that you can get at Big Lots or the dollar store. It's like insurance for $1. Also, for packing foam. Drop by a carpet store and check their dumpster. Many times, the leftovers from a job will be in there.
For a stretch there, I had it in my trading rules that you ship in a box or don't deal with me. If the item comes in a padded mailer it will be marked return to sender.
