Hi folks! I'm trying to help out a buddy that is trying to upgrade his girls' computer and still use the same case. Here's some of the specifics:

AT format

SS7 - must be able to handle at least a K6-2/450. If it can run a 550 that'd be great! ;)

Onboard audio or video aren't necessary but would be nice, especially audio.

Must use DIMMs.

This guy is a bigger tightwad than me so we're pushing for $40.00-$45.00 shipped if possible.

Possibly looking for: FIC VA-503+
Soyo 5EMA+ or 5EH-5 AT
Shuttle HOT-591P-AT
or something along these lines.

Thanks folks. :)

I believe those first two boards are both ATX, but then again, I could be smokin' something... lol
Its just been TOO long since I was into AT stuff...

Anywhoo... Bump for U! :D

I have an almost new Shuttle HOT 591P. BIOS is flashed to accept K62+ and K63+ as well. $60 shipped I also have a K63+ 450 (should be able to do 600) for another $20.

---EDIT: CPU is sold! :)

vwkess, I appreciate the offer but after talking to my friend he said that's a bit too rich for his blood. Like I said - he's a bigger tightwad than me. He's definitely trying to stay within that $40-$45 limit he set. Thanks anyway buddy. ;)

i think an ideal board for ur buddy would be an asus p5a-b

i have it and it fits all ur requirements...SS7, supports up to 550, AT form factory, onboard audio...

only drawback is that it uses an ALi chipset...u can hear the crowd hissing at the name :)

vwkess: any chance you'll let the k63+ go by itself for that price? u'd have to ship it to canada (for extra money of course :) )...if u dont, thats fine, i just wanna see how high i can OC that thing to ;)
