Sorry for soliciting in this manner. Hopefully, you will understand the reason for why I am doing this. I have started volunteering once a week in a shelter that helps homeless and low income families. I work in the computer lab (of course) helping out people with software related issues so that these people can better themselves and get a more stable and higher paying job, and also do small hardware maintenance stuff. There is one lady however who is finding it hard making it to the lab.

She has three small kids which she needs to take care of. The rules for the shelter is that you can not leave your kids alone so she must take all three (they are all very young) to the lab while she is studying which makes it very hard to concentrate. When her kids want to do homework on the PC's, she must take all three because the kids are not allowed inside the labs without the parents supervision.

Needless to say, this makes it very hard for her and her kids. I have a few parts to make a computer but I am missing the major components. I would really appreciate it as I am sure she would as well if anyone here would like to donate some small parts to help me build her a system. Nothing special. She just needs a small system to do office type of applications. I have a spare 15" monitor, printer, keyboard and mouse (and speakers I suppose). I need the rest though. If you would to donate any spare parts that are collecting dust, I am sure it would make such a big difference in her life. I can't imagine raising three small kids all by myself. I know how hard it must be for the kids because my parents started out with nothing but a suitcase full of clothes when we came to the U.S and it was very hard on me growing up so I want to help these kids the least I can. count me in for an older Pentium board, cpu (p133-166) and ram I know what she's in, so I'm gonna help out.

Unless someone can do better I have a Iwill mboard Socket 7 k6-2 300 and 64 megs of edo ram. it is ATX formfacture one though so it is not the standuard double high ATX just a single row of plugs on the board. have a face plate 4 it somewhere as well.

Thanks Greg. There is actually a store here (www.pixelusa.com) where I can pick up a cheap case for $28. If the power supply sucks, then I have plenty of spare good 250watt power supplies.

I can add a 40x cdrom.

i'm snowed in, but u can count on a floppy drive from me. shoot me an email w/ your mailing address and i'll have it out later this week.

Thanks again for your help. All I need now is a hard drive and a sound card and I am done. Actually, I just need a hard drive. I can buy a cheap sound card around here. Anyone have a hard drive please? I want to have the computer done by the time I visit the shelter on Sunday. Thanks again PCA.

i've got an old sb16, i dunno if it works or not though. i don't have any isa slots to test it on. should i throw it in for the hell of it?

Yes, please do TheManiacal1. If I can get it to work, then that would be perfect. I just need a cheap sound card for some sound in case she needs it for tutorials or training software.

just checked.. it's an opti - chipset card.. not an actual sb16..

Do you have the drivers for it?

Win98 has drivers for the sb16 so that isn't a problem. It'll be picked up and it installs everything that's needed for the sb16.

And Manuel, got your email but for some reason I can't send anything now. But the cdrom will go out tomorrow.

Since you can't send it out until Wednesday, I am still going to see if I can get another sound card because I don't know where to get drivers for an opti chipset sound card.

Last count, I still need a sound card and hard drive
