Will the LinkSys USB 10/100 EtherNet adapter work like a router or what is it exactly for? Same question for the 3Com 24 port network hub. SuperStackII. Model # 3C16441

Neither will act as a router.
the usb adapter takes the place of a network card. easier to get setup than a card, easy to transplant to another computer if needed.

The 3com hub allows you to connect up to 24 computers to each other to share files, printers, and the like.
