OT: What happened to all the old timers (ie Underclocked, Golfreak, etc)??

Post by GCS »

Just thinking back to the days (AGN and when Anandtech was small and done in the Hot Deals Forum) and wondered about some old timers.

Underclocked, Golfreak, Neuroshock (lost track of him after we helped him out in the hurricane), Red Dawn, Russ at compucheap(used to do his own computer biz), compuwiz, Rage (elitehardware originator), ahh there are so many more I just can't remember.

Just curious.

Thanks

Greg

Hey, I'm still here. My Heat should give you some good dates.

Red Dawn is still here. Check out the Cheers or Political BS forums. Doesn't Russ still post at Anand's?

I dont know man I've wondered the same thing. As I look toward the bottom of my Heat I see alot of folks who are MIA.But another thing I noticed is I've only done a few trades myself since 2001.But I still visit the forums almost daily when I can.

as far as i know underclocked is outa the scene, havent seen him on any board, I think Golfreak got addicted to diablo 2 and that was his doom (Bastard used to snatch all the deals on agn within seconds of posting)LOL

Red is still here, but lives on the east coast instead of cali, There is a few of us still around though
speaking of which Mr.Shanes, your quiet nowadays as well :p

What's really funny is that I've been here as long as you guys and visit almost daily and I still only have about 1/10 the number of posts. Guess I'm not much of a talker?

Golf came and went a few times, Russ felt the need to do other things, Neuro, I have no idea. I remember we helped him a lot. Some just move on, post only at anands, or left the net scene for whatever reasons.

For ole times sake :D

HOLY SH*T that was funny!!

Man I remember the days of old Nick Caputo what a piece of crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swear its amazing that guy is still alive. The # of people he screwed over and they didn't find him and stuff him in a trunk somewhere ................ geez!

Boy the good old days (listen to me I'm 34 talkin' like I'm 84)!!

AGN sure was fun and I miss those days I really do but as time always moves ahead so do the friendships. I miss a lot of the old guys in particular Dan(Neuroshock). Dan was one of the first guys I ever dealt with long ago and he "taught me the ropes". He and I spent a ton of $$$ with each other, so much so we used talk on the phone once a week and even though Dan had lost everything in the flood he and his wife managed to still send us a gift for my daughter when she was born 5 years ago.

There were truly a great group of people around back then and its sure nice to see many of you still around. And even nicer is the # of new friends I have made since then. Its been a real pleasure knowing all of you!!

MoFo -- boy do I remember that deal!! I got completely JACKED by a local company on 10 computers near Christmas as I recall and I was broke, busted and out on my ass in 2 weeks if I didn't sell them quick. You took 3 of them of my hands in a hearbeat and luckily I managed to move the rest in less than week and made it out with just the shirt on my back -- Taught me the value of NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT ;) !

Executioner -- yeah you go way back as well, hard to believe I am on your early heatware list!!

Syn -- Paul you and I have DEFINITELY a few deals together and always nice to see you arounD

BG -- What can I say man life gets busy and ya sell when ya can. I try to stay in touch with the boards as much as possible but be the sole source of income for the family and having 2 kids and 2 side jobs I am lucky to even get the chance to play games anymore. But life is good -- got 2 great kids, a great wife (who is a tremendous mother), a roof over our heads, and food in the fridge!! No retirement plan but hey ya can't take it with you when ya die, LOL!!

I think the 2 things I remember most about the old AGN are as follows:

1) The way that group of people (a lot of are here too) pulled together on more than one occasion to help the members of our community who had fallen on tough times.

2) On one of the happiest days of my life --- When my daughter was born -- I posted on old AGN about it and over 200 members posted congratulations for us. To this day my wife still has a print out of the whole thread in the baby book. Truly one of the nicest things anyone had done for us!!

So to sum things up Happy Holidays to all of you and here is to many years of positive trading and good friends!!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!

Greg

Normalicy -- I had totally forgotten about you too, sorry man!!
