The ones with an ad up now(AS OF 3/14/01) can keep their same ad going for up to a week longer. <b>But no new dealer type threads</b>. We just want the trading forum to go back to the ones who the for sale forums were originally intended, the regular individuals who wish to sell their items. And not the ones who "<b>only</b>" post an ad to sell their wares like a dealer and <b>don't add anything else to the forum</b>.

You are a dealer if:

<li>Anyone who can sell these items at any time
<li>Anyone who has to take orders before obtaining the items
<li>Anyone who has continual supplies of same items and depends on the sale of these items as a regular income stream
<li>Anyone who has a store front as a dealer
<li>Anyone who has a website like a dealer
<li>Anyone who has a reseller license to sell these items

Just because you have no website or store doesn't mean you are no dealer. Read the above for why.

These rules may have to be redefined as we go and sometimes on a case to case basis since some will always try to work around rules.

This decision has been coming for some time. There have been increasing amounts of dealers selling their wares on every For Sale forum at most BBS sites. There are legal aspects that many do not think about, but PCA absolutely must. There have also been some recent concerns about infighting, competition, and frequent price changing in existing for sale threads. Not to mention that this is hurting some of the very individuals that this forum was created for.

<b>The For Sale forum has always been intended for use of private individuals that have items for sale. These items are mostly produced because of attempts to upgrade, or trade for other parts needed to build and maintain their individual PCs. It was never intended as a forum for dealers to take advantage of the For Sale forums in order to circumvent legitimate business laws and regulations.</b>

Thank You :)

<b>******************************************************
Greg, it means that if something goes wrong with these dealers it will affect a ton of people - not just one or two. In the past trying to make traders make good on their deals usually meant doing this for a few traders, and helping them nail the culprits legally. If this happens (and we've already seen this once mind you) with one of the dealers, it becomes an impossible mess to clean up for MANY of our members.

Since we know this to be a possibility with the increasing amount of dealers on the scene, it would be highly irresponsible of us to let these threads continue. We simply do not have the resources to ensure the safest possible trading with this type of activity. Not all of you are going to agree, but if you think about it this only makes sense. It has simply gotten out of hand and something had to be done - legal or for the principles that this forum stand for, take your pick.

Hope you understand,

Yeah, I think he's talking about issues such as avoiding tax on inventory, and other ways that dealer inventory is lowered/eliminated through non-trackable means, sales tax evasion, etc., BBS's like this can easily become a "pressure release valve" that "unscrupulous," creative, & inventive liscensed resellers can use to dodge their civic responsibilities.

It'll put a little damper on some guys but in the true sense of these boards, dealers shouldn't be here anyway.
I'm going to kill myself when I see an awesome deal on another board by a dealer though :D

Unknowndude, Read the first paragraph on the first post. It says <b>"The ones with an ad up now can keep their same ad going for up to a week longer"</b>.

bonkers is no longer allowed to have dealer type threads. He had his chance and didn't stick to agreements. So let it rest, please. ;) That doesn't make him a bad trader of course.
