I am in need of a good Win98 compatible PCI sound card. No Live cards. It must be a good quality card.

Have you looked at the Zoltrix Nightengale? for $25 or less you can get a pci card with the SAME outputs as the sblive platinum, AND not have to deal with all of Creative Labs software. I'm using one in my NT box right now (used to dual boot into 98se) and it sounds just as good as the SBlive, is just as compatible, but costs around half as much.

How about a Yamaha XG based card, not the cheap OPL3 you see everywhere, this one has native support in win2k, 98 too I think, cant remember, but there are drivers and info at
http://www.waveforce.com YFM724 is the model number...
$25 shipped, let me know if your interisted...
I've used this card for a good while, was always impressed, much better than my old PCI128 and actually gave my SB Live a run for it's money...
