OT: Suggestions on a trading problem?

Hi Gang,
I had gotten what I was told was a set of Promedia 4.1 speakers as part of a whole system deal a bit ago, due to some crazy problems in what has become my ex-employer I had decided to sell of what I didn't really need around here. I sold the speakers for $205 shipped, which I considered a good price, after missing ups on a few occasions I sent them priority mail which was over 20 dollars insured. The buyer got them today but informed me that they are the v2.400 model and not the 4.1 as I was told, I'm not familiar with the line so it was a honest mistake I'll have to take up with the last seller.
Bottom line is... he's being very civil about it and realizes its a honest mistake but is asking for $35 to make up the difference between the two models, I realize its totally on me to correct the mistake but is that a fair price difference since I'm not really up on the prices of that model of speaker?
Any suggestions?
thanks,
Daniel

I am not familiar with the speakers prices at all . But I think the most important thing is , is $35 satisfactory with you to conclude the deal . It might be cheaper to just return $35 to make up for the error than pay for the shipping to return them and then have to pay shipping when you sell them again , at a lower price because of the model number . Like I said , I know nothing about speaker values , but $35 for settling that end of the deal might not be bad . Then I think I would try to contact the original seller and see what he has to say . Just my .02 worth .

Yeah the 4.1s are anewer model with a bigger amp I believe so there is some difference between the two. I personally would just pay the guy to keep him happy and chalk it up to a learning experience.

well if you do give the guy $35 back.. $ 170 shipped for the v2.400's is a steal!!!

Right, my point wasn't really that I wasn't going to just spend the 35 to satisify the deal, I was more just wondering if that really was how much the difference would be.

I agree, what's 35 to make another happy to satisfy a deal from a mistake. If you want to check on the price difference then check out online retailers that may carry both and see. Or even different ones, at least you'd get an idea.

Agree with the rest. An elite trader does what is right without question, and $35.00 is approximate to the difference in models.

Just from a plain cost standpoint it is worth settling for the $35. IF he ships it back at YOUR cost you're out $20 plus the $20 to send it to someone else...more than the $35. I don't know what they are worth on the market, but that's the reality of the situation.

If you can afford the $35 just be done with it since you made a very honest mistake...don't keep paying for it by draggin it out...seems fair to the buyer and a smart settlement for you.

Thanks for the suggestions, like I said it was never a case of me not paying him I was just wondering if anyone knew the cost differences between the models just so I knew really what I was losing.
