Thats the card I have as well. I had to install the control panel because otherwise, how do you leave headphones connected, and swap output between headphones and speakers? I dont recall win10 showing them as discreet outputs, but I may be wrong.

I do that as well, but between HDMI and the phones for casual games when I want to use the monitor speakers.

Not sure if what you want to do will work. It depends on whether the SB card shows the front and back jacks as separate output channels. If so, you can click on the windows volume in the task bar, and above it is a drop down to select the output you want to use. If the card lists the front and rear jacks as separate outputs, then you could switch between them that way. That's what I do.

I can't tell on mine because my case is an older one that doesn't have the compatible front jack header, so I actually connect my phones to the SB jacks in the back directly. I don't see a drop down option for front jacks on mine, but that may be because the header is not plugged in. I know some sound cards don't show an input as active unless there's a load on it.

If you end up using the SB USB dongle, it'll definitely show up as a separate output channel from the speakers. So that's one workaround.

I just hate those audio utilities. They always seem to cause problems and they are generally poorly written. Part of my philosophy that 'less is best'.

I installed the card after swapping the AIO fans out and am testing it out. Just checked and no, it shows analog or digital output in the dropdown, so I do need the utility. The install is pretty barebones otherwise, so hopefully this util that I will use for 1 single function wont cause any issues.

That said, my cinebench score did go up 300 (about 5%) points with the SB vs onboard, so that's nice.

Looks good, as long as the driver exposes the inputs/outputs separately. I'll test it out, but so far the SB software has been behaving.
