New KK266 + 1.4GHz + SK6 on the horizon

Post by Insane Morphius »

Just got my KK266 mobo, and will be setting her up soon as my new 1.4Bird and SK6 arrive on either Sat or Mon. I have parused through the FAQ site, but DAMN thats alot of info :) Any folks using the above and care to give any quick tips? I have looked at the other posts as well.

Thanks

what fan are you using with the sk6? I found the best noise/air combo to be the fan off the volcano2 heatsink. apx 30cfm and no louder then the 26 cfm y's tech...and it does cool better. I could not stand the 38delta. you should remove the green heatsink on the north bridge and put some heatsink compound under there and try and attach a fan to it. that helped my OCing alot. what power suply are you using? if it is an enermax they work Really wel with the setup. also remember to install the Heatsink o nthe chip B4 you install it into the case because it is Really hard to do it afterwords.

air flow air flow airflow!!!

Just check the table of contents in the sig for the setup guide. If your going to do a RAID thing, make sure read Hobbelisk's RAID guide in the FAQ. If you have any questions as you go along, feel free to e-mail or ICQ me. I don't check my PMs often so don't bother with that.

Greg,

Thanks for the info bro. I am using the 431 enermax PS, and will do what you've recommended on the North Bridge. I ordered the SK6 with the Delta, the noise does not bother me all that much, but have a few other fans available to change out if it really is too loud. I am very excited to see what this and my GF3 can do :)

Thanks a bunch Vid!!!

If your going to overclock tell me how it goes. I can't get my 1.33Ghz AYHJA over 1.53Ghz with my Millenium Glacier heatsink.

wvjohn, you sir are correct :)

I just got a blue orb chipset cooler for the North Bridge, attached it with both portions of the AS compound and one of the little pins (incase the AS Compound breaks loose). I am letting it cure for a few hours, then will migrate everything over. I will use my 1GHz @ 1.4GHz "AXIA" and check out the Mobo, still awaiting my new 1.4GHz Bird, it will be here Monday for sure :) Will advise how she goes later this evening.
