Attention all Gamers and Video Editors. I have been searching for a board that will handle my hobby!! I love to edit my home movies and create web pages. My current pc is just too old. I usually by ASUS boards and Pentiums. I have been looking at the 64 bit AMD's also. So shout out all your knowledge. Please be specific in the board(some have a letter after the model). Video cards I was down to... GFORCE 5400 and RADEON 9600. I have a choice of XP PRO and WIN2k!!

it all depends on your budget, and by the looks of your video choices, sounds like you are going lean.
If you like Asus boards the kv8 se deluxe is a nice choice for socket 754 athlon 64's. It has onboard ide and two onboard sata raid controllers, so you can fill a box full of drives if need be. As far as those two video cards Id take the 9600.

hey, welcome to PCA!

like everything else depends on what you've got on hand, what you're willing to spend, and what you want to do...the athlon64 is the fastest right now, but some people who do a lot of video editing seem to like the p4 ht chips

if you want to build a fast budget rig that can handle just about anything you might keep and eye out for any refurb dell 420sc servers on the dell site - it is actually a desktop motherboard that uses regular pc 3200 - that model has been discontinued but still pops up once in a while and it is very solid - I have one specced as follows

dell box p4 2.8 ghz ht $329
i gig pc3200 150
reburb 9700 pro 125

total 604

it can handle anything just fine,
