MSI® HOW-TO Install AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPU
Re: MSI® HOW-TO Install AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPU
Holy glop of paste! not even going to spread it out.
Re: MSI® HOW-TO Install AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPU
I noticed that too. I've always spread a very thin layer.

Yeah not the way I'd do it. I spread it thin and even with a credit card.

You glop it on so that the pressure spreads it into the necessary gaps. Making a thin layer is prone to air bubbles and reduced efficiency.
Re: MSI® HOW-TO Install AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPU
I've seen a number of reviews agree that glopping is the way to go. That said, I spread a thin layer on both the heatsink & processor. Just don't trust glops to go where they should.

If you are not OC'ing/running on the edge, it wont matter. If you are using a top model CPU and aggressive OC? you do not want to spread. A air bubble in the wrong spot will kill your CPU.
