OK, I'm sorry for being harsh on you about it. I didn't realize that was their new policy. It still hasn't been reflected on the Policy and Agreement page
1. NewEgg.com SATISFACTION GUARANTEE - NewEgg.com offers our customers a 30-day satisfaction replacement or refund guarantee on all purchases, except:

7-day replacement or refund guarantee on all CPU/Memory products and refurbished computer products 1.

Note: For CPU, base cost will reflect current market price, and 15% restocking fee will apply after this adjustment. Therefore, total refund is subtracting.
CPU's were the only policy exception. While there are multiple places on this page where they talk about a 15% restocking fee for all products returned for a refund, I couldn't find anything that said specific products gone defective within 30 days could not be returned to NewEgg for replacement, and must instead be handled by the manufacturer.

new egg rma

Post by crossbones »

Ive had some of the best customer service ive ever had through new egg(2nd only to klipsh) buddy of mine built a new system, and bought with his processor a fan that goes faster as it gets hot, well the fan decided not to go faster, frying his chip within seconds. Sent both into new egg and had it back in his house in under a week. Ive had many good experiences with them, had a couple rma's (i order alot of stuff) and never had a problem. It is unfortunate though to hear about your monitor problem and ill be certain to use caution when ordering one.

Get this, DO NOT USE BZBOYZ!!!!!! I ordered a motherboard from them, recieved it and the static bag was scotch taped shut. It was oviously a returned motherboard, i was irritated by that fact but tried it anyway, sure enough it did not work. got a rma sent it in and discovered the price went down since i bought it and didnt get a full refund because of this. I emailed, called, you name it and got the worst service EVER!! Never did get the rest of my money.

Yeah I been burned a few times by the "pricewatch specials" so I make sure I go to http://www.resellerratings.com first. And newegg? Only had GOOD experiences. In fact, just this past week, I ordered a Duron 950mhz for a customer by mistake when I needed the 1ghz. I emailed them, sorry the order has already shipped. But if you want you can return it for no restocking fee. Its service like that that I like. Where the reps are understanding of mistakes and wont charge ya if u make a mistake. I dunno. Never had a problem. Even http://www.gameve.com has been a very good retailer for me. I usually get my video cards there. Good prices. Story about them now. I ordered a Powercolor Radeon 9500pro but they never sent me an email explaining it was out of stock. So I called a week later saying where is it? And they told me it was out. So after saying that they really should alert the customers he said hold on. When he came back, he offered me the ATI brand (which was for $15 more) for the same price plus a small gift. Sure enough, the next day, my order was shipped. I got the ATI brand one and my free intel t-shirt. Because of that experience i definately will order again.

Love newegg though. I order from them ALOT. There just reliable, decent priced, and service is top notch.

Maybe there was a miscommunication that u just wanted to exchange it for a working one rather than a refund?

I think Newegg is a dam good company. I buy almost all my stuff from them. I could care less about how they get the product prices what they are. I am concerned about good quality, good prices, good availability, good customer support.

I like them because a lot of times I am buying different parts and different brands (like cpu, mb, ram, heatsink/fans, memory, etc) that I may have to find at different retailers. Usually Newegg will have them all.

I had to RMA a mb once and they sent me a new one with no questions asked (it turned out there was nothing wrong with the one I returned, it was user error on my part). Hell, over a month ago I bought an AMD 2800+ from them and no one else has them even now. I had to buy a motherboard with it but I needed one anyway.

As far as the monitor. I think you will find that most retailers will have this same restocking fee on exchanges for certain things, like monitors for example. I think it is because the company is probably given a harder time returning a monitor to the manufacturer and maybe manufacturers not giving full credit for returns.

I have no complaints of Newegg, they have served my needs quite nicely.

On refurbished items. I don't think I would ever go that way (to tell the truth, I didn't even know Newegg sold refurbished stuff) unless it was just the only way to go to get what I needed. I prefer new.

Ehhh... I think this is like #3 or 4 for this guy... I seem to recall one thread where he even went so far as to create another user to "back up" his claims about great prices and great customer service. Could have been another guy though...

I have ordered $15,000 + from newegg, for myself and customers that I build/repair/upgrade PC's for, and have never had a problem. I just bought my first monitor from them, a Viewsonic 19' Flat panel VX900 I think was the model... anyway, It came with a dead Pixil, sure, they say has to have 8 to refund. But the one dead pixil if barely viewable anyway.. And I dont mind. But back to the story, I have ordered LOTS from newegg, and I have returned 3 or 4 items, They try to get that 15% restock fee, but they dont charge it if you get a DOA product that you just want a replacement. If you said I want my money back, then sure, they are gonna try and get you for it, since they dont want to lose the business on a pissed customer that wont rder from them again. I would do the same honestly. But if you had just gotten a replacement instead of money back, then I bet if you asked, or demanded, they would have waived the 15%.

I will always look at newegg when comparing prices from different sites. Dont get me wrong, I order from many different plaes, but Newegg has always been good to me.

directron is my newegg...
I still occasionally do business with Directron, but they've disappointed me a lot the last few times. Couple of times I've gotten stuff that was advertised as OEM and looked more like system pulls (tools marks, tray scratches on drives). Also the packing has left a lot to be desired a few times.

I order mostly from NewEgg for myself and for client parts. Probably spend $5K a year on them. Good selection. god prices, fast shipping, and I like the easy RMA through them and not having to hassle with the manufacturer. Only negative is their goofy per-item shipping charges, but usually it's not an issue for me: 5 cheap modems + shipping = 5 better quality modems with free shipping, so I order the better modems.
