Hard Drive annoyance!!!!!

Post by Kal-EL6 »

I need some help, my hard drive is constantly running and i can't remember how to stop it. I had done it once before but i can't remember if it had to with the indexing service or the swap file.
Please help.

Probably the indexing service. Right click on all your partitions and disable indexing, then disable the indexing service.

Don't mess around with your swap file size. As long as you have more than 256Mb the defaults will work fine.

Run Adaware or Spybot to see if you have any spyware installed.

First go to My Computer, right click on each hard drive partition and select properties. Uncheck indexing.

The right click My Computer, select Manage, Click on Services & Applications on the left, then click on Services on the right. Find the Indexing Service and Stop it then disable it.
