No Boot for SY-K7V Dragon+
No Boot for SY-K7V Dragon+
I recently put my Dragon+ into a new case, and now it won't boot up. All
fans and lights come on but there is no video or POST beeps. According to
the manual, this means a possible short with the case. So I removed the
board from the case and fired it up. Same result. Could it be a power
supply issue? It is a new 300 watt Enermax power supply that came with the
case. I tried starting it with just the CPU and video card. Same result.
Just the CPU...same result. I swapped the out the CPU (Athlon 1700+) with a
brand new Athlon 2100+. Same result. The 3 sticks of PC2100 RAM are
confirmed good in another box. Any suggestions? I cleared the CMOS too.

I have a Dragon + it is in my kids system now. It definitely seems to be picky about power supplies. I have a no name generic 400 watt that will rum a P3 I have just fine but wont boot the Dragon even tho it is running on a 300 watt no name unit now. So if you have another PS to try I would say give it a shot. Also you mention 3 sticks of ram. The Dragon had definite issues running 3 sticks so if you are trying to run all 3 at once I would yank at least one of them just to eliminate that possibility.

Thinking about it more I am thinking the problem might be in the connector on the mobo itself. I know with mine sometimes I have to plug and un plug the power connector to the mobo over and over to get a good connection. Also that is one of the components that Soyo changed from the original version of the Dragon. The new ones got a different connector on them. I would play with that connector some more before buying a new power supply.

Have only just the basics in, no other peripherals. Reseat the video card. I've had some take 4-5 reseats before it'd boot. Or even try another video card. Then try just one stick of ram in various slots. If still no boot, reseat the cpu.
Either of the above can cause this problem. Lights and fans come on, but no boot. If the above fails, then I'd try another psu.
