New Comp Problems

Post by TheBattousai »

Building my friend's new computer and am hitting some major speed bumbs. First off, his Radeon 9600 he ordered from Newegg came with the little black piece that holds down the heatsink broken. If anyone knows a way to remedy this (without either contacting Newegg or ATI, we are doing this as we speak) please let me know. Also, we are having some issue that nothing is being displayed on his monitor when the system is turned on, but there is no beep sequence saying anything is obviously wrong. And for some reason his CD-rom drive will not open. It is a P4 system, 3GHz CPU. I'm kinda torn at what could be wrong, if anyone could be of assistance it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you need anymore system information, just let me know.

[edit]

Okay, we actually got the system up and running, still having problems with the video card (Sapphire said they'd call us back, and then they quit for the day! :mad ) But otherwise things are looking up!

Unless Saphire is willing to send you the part, you're better off dealing with NewEgg for the RMA. Their RMA is very easy and painless. You just go into your account on their website, and click, click you're done. Pack it up, send it back.

I agree with you here, Newegg deals very well with the RMA process, let them take it up with Sapphire, plus they will ship it back their standard method 3-4 days, no knowing what Sapphire will do, they will probably go with cheap and slow UPS ground...
