Which of these two budget monitors best?
Hey hey! So great deals are everywhere this holiday season. And I've been looking around a bit for a new monitor to grace my desktop. I've come across two great 22" lcd monitors at almost exactly the same price (about $177):
The Envision G2219w1
and The Dell E228WFP
Both seem pretty sweet and MaxPC gave the Envision a seemingly better score but I'm still a tad skeptical. Anyone have any thoughts on which one to go for? Maybe someone has a suggestion on a comparable model/deal I missed? I'm all ears.

Get the Dell. If anything goes wrong with it, they'll replace it. I have a Dell monitor that's several yrs old now and once it acted up. I called them and had a replacement withing days, maybe sooner.
With the other one, I doubt you'ld have that kind of customer care.

Just buy a Dell for Small Business and NOT the home division if you can. You get better tech support. On the home side when you call you deal with idiots who treat you like an idiot.

i have to agree that the samsungs look sweet as sugar but for 177 bucks the dells are just so aggressively priced and the closest comparison, a 2232GW Samsung, is 210 bucks refurb :-\
I have to admit though, the fact that I already use a dell monitor kinda makes me die a little inside if I get another dell, because it will look exactly the dull-same except bigger. I wish the Dell SP2208WFP was cheaper.

I guess I'm gonna be the only one who recommends the Envision. We have plenty of Dell 17 and 19 inch monitors at work, and I hate them. But I have an Envision G19LWK 19 inch wide screen sitting on my desk at home, and I love it. The image is much, much sharper than any Dell monitor I've worked with, the brightness and contrast are perfect. At work, I have two 19" dell monitors, and by the end of the day my eyes are killing me from staring at them all day. The image is grainy and distorted, even on DVI. But my Envision, I can stare at for hours on end and my eyes are still fresh. And the picture is crystal clear, even on VGA connections. I've had this thing for nearly four years now, and I have never had a problem with it. And I expect to get many more years out of it
Maybe not the best monitor for... say, artists, but for normal use, I'd say it's a much better buy than the Dell. I'll never touch a Dell monitor for home use.
