V3 works in WinXP (and trust me it installed it's own generic drivers - Win9x drivers do NOT work in XP or 2K). The only problem is OpenGL won't work in 3D hardware (there's no support for it in the V3 drivers).

Don't think it's released yet blackhawk. Only businesses and those who work for some stores or sites get it.

Here's some more experience with it. Learned that XP doesn't support a Logitech serial mouse and will only either usb or ps2. And they have updated drivers specifically for XP.
http://www.logitech.com/cf/support/mousefiles_wxp.cfm
I tried those on my other system and at first it said it needed to remove the older drivers. As it did that it rebooted and then bam. No mouse or keyboard worked and it was a hard lock. Loaded windows ok but after that it froze. Tried various fixes, reboots, etcc. till I had no other choice but to format. Didn't matter with this system anyway.

Once XP installed all seemed ok and first installed the new logitech drivers and all seemed fine. Then I installed it on my main system which had win 2k on it which was upgraded from win 98. The install went mostly ok except I had several files that could not be copied. I think it was the heat from my pioneer dvd drive that caused this problem. Once I'd let the cd cool off and then reinsert all files were then found ok. All except the "sceconW.chm" file. I have no clue what that's for. That one refused to be installed. Had no problems installing on the other 2 systems I tried it on. Even without that file I went ahead even though it said windows may not work right. Anyone know what that file does?

After finished all seemed to be ok. But yes there are some weird problems. First one I noticed is it took away the ATI menus in display properties so now I can't change fsaa and the other settings. Otherwise the video is fine and actually seems to look even better. Still want to get back those settings though. Did use the latest ati drivers for win 2k.

Next and really the first major problem was connecting to the net. My modem wasn't working and after checking device manager there was an irq conflict with com port 1. This was a major hassle and had me looking for ways to uninstall xp since it also would not work with my other usb modem. After many various tries at correcting this the only way that worked was to change to the irq that com 2 used and disable com 2. Not sure if that will haunt me later or not. This is an old supraexpress 56k isa hardware modem and there's no new drivers for it but hey, at least I got it working.

My scanner(microtek c6 usb) said it isn't working but it is and my printer(epson photo 700) said it isn't working but it works just fine. Only the epson system monitor is not working but I can live without that.

Another weird thing is icq. Now if i try to reply the reply buttons are not there, I have to view history and forward that to reply. And if I get off the net and try to get back on it dials ok and tried to verify my info but that's all it does, it does not connect. So far I have to reboot and once I do I connect just fine.

Probably the worst problem is I can't run both ie and ns at the same time. If I am using ie and then open netscape the ie browsers all close. And vise versa. Sometimes even if I have 2-3 ie browsers open it will close 1-2 of the others. I have no clue what's causing that yet or how to stop it.

hehe, otherwise I do like it. :D

Now my face is turning red. :D

Found out why it took away my ati controls, when xp installed it installed it's own ati drivers. So I reinstalled the latest ones for win2k which many say work in xp and now it seems the picture isn't as good. But the ati options are back and maybe the pic quality is just me. Also xp doesn't recognize a vivo and instead says I have a 64meg ddr. Wished I tried some games before I installed the drivers to se if there was a difference.

Also I've read of many having problems with sb live cards and I am no exception. Rear speakers didn't work till I changed a simple setting but eax doesn't seem to work at all. Of course xp installs it's own creative drivers and the sound isn't near as good. So I install the liveware 3.0 and had all kinds of wonderful fun. It didn't work. Once rebooted it said to uninstall the card and reinstall the drivers. Did that several times and still got the same message along with a longer boot time of course. Had to eventually go back to xp's creative drivers.

Anyway the sound isn't near as good till creative has drivers supporting xp. And same goes for ati. xp isn't officially released yet so hopefully both companies are working on xp drivers.

And damn, still if I have ie open and then open netscape then xp closes all ie browsers. Same goes either way.

hehe, I feel like a beta tester. :D

Hell, I'm suprised NS works at all in XP. Considering how much MS has tried screwing them. And don't feel bad about your SB Live.... Creative's drivers have always been subpar with it.

is it really worth all the trouble, its seems i can play around with device drivers for weeks, trying to get all my hardware to work. or just stick with win 2k and get all the same benefits. Well ok, i don't get the cheezey blue desktop, but i think i will survive.

I've run it for a while and I like it. I'm probably gonna upgrade my W2k box up to XP as well. It is a little heavier on the requirements but, it boots faster and it is just quicker and easier to setup. I run W2k and have now problems with it but, I personally think it takes a little to much time to setup some of the basic settings. Other than that XP is ho hum. I do like the ability to skin your os but, it is an upgrade you can pass if you have W2k. If I had to buy one from scratch I'd take XP.

I'd really wait until after the official release for OFFICIAL drivers. Even then, I bet it'll take a month or two for drivers to mature.

I'll probably upgrade from Win2K myself, but likely not until the first of the year. By then drivers should be solid and the first service pack may be out to address any problems.

I'm perfectly happy with Win2K but I'll need to be familiar with XP for service work.
