Not aware of data corruption problems myself. Memory compatibility problems are actually the memory manufacturers fault.

My board had the timings and the voltage set wrong, manually set timing to 4-4-4-12-24/T2 and set voltage to 2.2 and going to see how stable it is now that I put mem back in dual channel slot location. Im running fedora 9 sulfur atm so who knows how its going to run.

Yeah, the problem there is that the memory manufacturers are making ram with out of spec voltage requirements (supposed to be like 1.8 or 1.9v).

The timings aren't always properly passed to the motherboard. That from what I've learned is also the memory's fault, however, it can also be slowly updated BIOS as well (that would depend on who makes the motherboard). I know that OCZ is pretty bad about being incompatible.
