Well one thing that I can suggest is that you go to
http://www.lowendmac.com and see if they have your models listed. If they do find out if they have PCI slots, then try to find a Mac compatable PCI NIC. I know for sure that Kingston makes some.

Performa 430 and 631CDs are old 68k machines. These things are pre-PPC, older than even NuBus, well before Apple started using PCI. You will probably not find a NIC for these things.
Can you check the model #s again? There's no Performa 431 or 531 listed at Apple's site. The closest were the 430 and 631CD.

Hey Jimz, whats the chances he is lucky and got some type of onboard networking. I know some of the older macs I have, have it, you just need the dongle for it. But then again I don't have and Pre-PPC ones around.

possible, but at that age I'd expect it to be thin-net (coax) or something similar.

Hmm, ok thats what I was thinking too. Oh well. Maybe you can try Ebay and see if you can find any Nu-Bus based Network Cards. Did they even make such beasts??

I surmise that the NuBus Performas had integrated ethernet... the 68k Performas pre-date NuBus, though.
