I wouldn't care if it was just Windows that saw them as this, but my plextor 8/4/32 no matter what program I use it sees them all as 650s instead of 700s. Not a big deal in most cases, but when I am trying to squeze that last song on there you know haveing that last 6 minutes comes in really handy. I don't understand this at all... I am running Win98 SE with few updates if any. I have installed all the Software of the cd that came with the Plextor drive, and I have installed CloneCD. CloneCD is version 2.8.3.1 I have not installed or even looked for any updates to Easy CD creator, PlexMangager, or DirectCD. Should I? Do you think that any of that would help? I still don't see why Windows would see it as 648mb though.

Nope. Audio programs see it as 74mins, and data progs see it as 650. I can't put anymore then those amounst on there... I am gonna go visit plextors site to see if there is something I can download from them. Maybe the firmware. Is that like bios or something?

Your cd-writer has some form of non-volatile memory, most likely flash. Firmware is a layer of software that sits very close to the hardware. It usually contains code that the hardware designer doesn't want handled by the OS, doesn't want to implement in hardware form, and is rapidly accessible.
