Vidcard problems

Recently my computer has run in trouble when I've tried to a) resize the resolution or b) run a game. I tried installing the GeForce2 NVidia drivers for Windows 98 and had no luck do either of those. I then uninstalled these and installed the default (CD) drivers that originally came with the card. Now I can't even get into my system under safe mode (the screen just flickers like it did when I did a or b before). I'm running a 1 Ghz Athlon, with Philips PSC 706 sound card and Nokia 473L monitor. I dual boot but generally do not use the Windows 2000 system.

Thanks,
TheDozen

Does the video work ok when you boot to win 2k? And do you have another video card to try and at least get in safe mode so you can remove all video card drivers.

Don't use ANYTHING but the latest NVidia reference driver. Get it here: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=drivers

I'm not sure I follow. Are you having this problem in only one OS? If so which one? If both that would indicate a hardware problem.

If you can't boot into Safe Mode in 98, something is seriously wrong - possibly with the hardware. In safe mode the driver is not installed and the vid card is accessed as a Standard VGA.

Do you have another vid card you can try?
