Logitech Z-560 Cables

i ordered those sweet speakers, but how long are the cables that ship with them? also i heard they aren't too great of cables and that many replace them with cables they buy at stores. is 16 gauge good enough wire for this use, cause each cable's gonna be sumtin like 15 feet long for each speaker (setting one speaker hanging from wall in each corner of room).

the ones that come with are fine...it's not like they are audiophile speakers.
bass is usually the most affected by speaker wire gauge...if you can tell the difference at all, so the satellites are ok with smaller wire. IF you want to get better stuff, just go to you local hardware store and get 18 or 16 gauge for .15/foot or so.

on the overclockers.com forum a guy told me that wires are subject to intereference if they aren't shielded?? the wires that home depot sells are unshielded so will that make a big difference? if not how can i shield the wires at a cheap cost? also, can you give me a rough measurement of how long each of the cables are to the satellites? thanks man

most speaker wires are unsheilded, as far as I know. It won't become a problem until you run the wires next to a big electrical appliance or something that would cause EMI (electro-magnetic interfearence)

radiated EMI isn't usually a problem until you get above the audio range anyway. meaning, anything that would be blocked by shielding your wires, you wouldn't be able to hear anyway.

what kinda things cause EMI? will it make any noticable difference in my speaker sounds? if it will how do i shield my wires... i am sure im going to replace my wires on my z-560's, but how exactly do i do it? how do i take the wires out of the binding posts and put the new ones in? if anyone's got a link to a tutorial or sumtin like that its much appreciated.

anything that uses high-frequency digital transmissions can cause EMI. However, audio only runs from the frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Emitted noise is typically well above 50 kHz. So. like I said, even if your cables are picking up emissions, you are incapable of hearing them anyway.
Noise that you CAN hear, usually a 60 Hz hum, is conducted and can't be helped by shielding.
