well, i got an encore esl-835-T card that worked just fine in win98, but since i reworked this system and have installed win2k, this card does not like any drivers i try and give it. i used the OEM floppy, which had a win2000 folder w/drivers to no avail. the encore-usa.com site i can not find esl-835 anywhere.

win2k thinks the drivers i give it are crappy. i can install with the "warning" that it has not been certified by MS or whatever. but under device manager, it shows, "device cannot start." my cables are in. they are in good. i know that is not an issue.

i need to find a better driver, if anyone out there knows where to get drivers for this sort of thing, all help would be appreciated.

NICs are so cheap it's not worth futzing with. If you can't find a driver on the manufacturer's own website, I'd just put that card aside and save it for a Win98 system.

The old NE2000 driver is always worth a shot. Try it. You have nothing to lose.
