DVI problem

Post by diabolix »

I just bought an LCD monitor (Samsung 191T) with VGA/DVI in.

The monitor works fine with the VGA cable but i get no signal when i used
the DVI cable.I check the pins on the cable with a multimeter and
there's no connection between the two flat pins on each end of the cable.

Could it be my problem?

My videocard is a Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti 4200.I also tried with an Asus Geforce 4 Ti 4400 on another computer with the same result

Thanks

Do you have to maybe do something stupid like boot off the VGA and tell Windows to switch to the DVI interface? Windows has done some retarded stuff to me with monitors before so something lite that wouldn't surprise me.

I have a dual LCD setup with one on the DVI and one on the 15-Pin. The 15-Pin is the one that comes on when it boots and if I remember right it didn't matter which port I had it on it always came on first.

Maybe Windows tries to init that display still since it already saw something on it. If you can hook both DVI and 15-Pin up at the same time maybe you can tell Windows to switch over and make the DVI the primary display.

It's working. :D

It seems a lot of people have this problem.

This is what i done.

Turn off the monitor, give Windows XP the chance to boot completely.

Turn on the monitor.That's it ! :Y

Since then, even when i turned the computer off,it always detect the good port

The quality of image was good in VGA but in DVI... IT'S BREATH TAKING :chicken

THX Schwartz ,you put me on the right trail *&

Never under estimate the stupidity of Windows

PS.Now i have two 19 inches Samsung side by side
the 900 SL and the 191T

Guess the one who i prefer ? :p

Here's the answer i got from Samsung tech support
Hello Andre, The 191T has a DVI-D (digital only) & a 15pin D-sub connection, both need to be connected for the monitor to work properly, some video cards have a DVI-I connection that have Analog and digital in one. ours the connections are separate. Ok...but i have only the DVI cable connected and it works :;
