Synchronous and Asynchronous

As I understand it (I think I understand it) that if a computer is in synchronous mode ( the memory speed and FSB speed are the same) then the cpu will opperate at a faster rate compared to Asyncronous mode ( where the memory is a higher speed 166 to the FSB at 133) because of wait cycles for one to catch up with the other. If this is correct , then does it make enough difference in speed to have your memory running at 166 or would just staying at 133 be a better match for the cpu.

I scare myself sometimes with this stuff!!!

no my old KX133 chipset mobo supported this. I had my FSB at 100mhz, and my ram at 133. I noticed some difference in Sandra. The 133 was a little faster. If your ram will run at the 166 then go for it.

Just a side note.

I'm running a p133 fileserver. And your ram clock is 33mhz faster than its processor :) LOL that was just funny for a second. Maybe I'm just tired, though.
