Hi all,
Im just putting a pc together and am stuck on what sound card to buy? it definatly is going to be a creative audigy but which one?
I want the card for gaming and music and dvds, I want the full cinema feel to this pc!
I have the creative inspire digital 5700 speaker system and was after the differences between the audigy range, and the pros and cons of each card?
Thanks in advance
Dave

my philips acoustic edge has been solid since day 1... 5.1 surround, etc. you can probably get 'em cheap these days.

If gaming is most important, get the Audigy 2.
If music is most important, get M-Audio's Revolution.
Sorry

Please avoid the Acoustic Edge. Philips has not released drivers for like 9 months and there are issues with games. Looks like Philips has abandoned this card with potential.

As for Audigy vs Audigy 2...the Audigy 2 has better drivers and clearer sound.

Just get an Audigy Gamer/MP3+, the first generation will do just fine for gaming and playing music/DVDs plus they're now cheaper since the Audigy 2 cards are out.
You can get the Audigy 2 when you also need it for more professional music recording due to the higher bitrate (or money isn't tight).
You should only get the Platinum/ Platinum EX version when you really need the breakout box.

Welp, just get an Audigy 2 Gamer unless you really need the breakout box of the Platinum series. You'll need a speakersystem with external DTS decoder builtin, like the Logitech Z-680, to enjoy DTS DVDs.

Then you're already set, they include an external DTS decoder, just get the Audigy 2 that fits your needs best
