Need some advice for my new system.

Have a gigabyte ga7vaxp (not ultra) already and was wondering whether I should go for
a 2800xp or 3000xp (barton)
Is the performance difference worth the £100?
Got a radeon 9700 pro vid card if that helps.
Also what brand ram should I get was looking at corsair or Geil?

the only difference you will see between the two will be a couple 3dmark points (IMHO)
I think the 2400+ is the best buy in a tbred right now, if you gotta have a barton the 2500 is the best buy, and if you got a nice board you should be able to overclock that bad boy pretty decently

Ok am getting a barton probably the 2500 (maybe 2800 see how i feel l8a)

What fsb memory should I get? Was thinking pc2700 as its fsb is 333mhz which matches my processor
is there any point in getting 400mhz memory? The brand I have chosen is corsair.
