OK, my dad has just announched hes gonna be buying a digital video camera and he asked my which to get. To be honest i have no idea about them, so do any of you guys know. Is there a whole load of new technical terms to learn about them?
He's not gonna be spend loads on this, so we are looking for a sorta mid-range camera.

So guys, whats the deal on these things?

I don't have any direct input since I've never used them but a guy I work with just got one and did all kinds of research, if I get any info from him I'll pass it along.

what is the price range. that really is the killer. cause U can get say a $500 camara...but then U might want More memory or another extra. or what not. I personally have a sony cybershot and really like it. dsc-s50 but it is $600 retail and then U need more ram cause 4 meg just Doesnt cut it. ;)

JVC do some nice DV cameras. I got the top line one 1 year ago. My Brother bought a mid range one not long back and the pixel rate is the same 800,000. You can get a good DV camera for about £700 and if u want to go better you would pay £1500 with all the trimmins of slow motion etc.

JVC also have the cables for hooking it up to the pc (Jlip video Capture) so you can capture still images or edit your film ( not cut and paste though) that needs a capture card.

Chris.
AMD or Intel wont stop me but the laws of physics might. slowly on the mend.
