I recently purchased an Andara Technologies AMD Athalon motherboard with an Athalon 750. This motherboard came with no manual, and I am in despirate need of help in getting the front panel hooked up right. Does anyone know where I can buy or find a manual for this mobo online? My computer will not work until I get the power switch and reset switch hooked up correctly on the 8 prong 2 row front panel place on the mobo. Any help would be apprecieated. Thanks

I don't believe "Andara Technologies" is the name/manufacturer of your mobo.

I've been to their site and from what I see, they use other manufacturers products and slap their name on it or just re-sell it.

There was only one motherboard on their site and it was a celeron mobo made by BCM.

If you could give us the actual name of the manufacturer, we might be able to find something. There should be something on the mobo to determine who made it.

Andara board

Post by sheerdark »

Hey guys, thank you for your responses. All I know is that I bought the board online and they told me it was made by Andara. I have visited the andaratech.com page many times...the first few times it was down, then I was disappointed because they did not list my board. The only other thing that is written on the board is a backwards R and a connected J with us following it...kinda like RJ but with the R being backwards and RJ us.....maybe this will help you guys help me...I hope so. It also says Model Kodoka.....UL File #E201074. Does that help at all. That is what it says on the board. Where exactly should I look to find the manufacturer of the board. Nowhere on the board does it say Andara Tech.....that is just who the seller said it was made by. Andara makes OEM boards for several manufacturers that are not listed on their webpage....as this mobo is an OEM part, or so I was told. There is a chip on the board that says American Megatrends Copywrite 1994 SMsC, but I do not know what that chip is...maybe BIOS? Can anyone help me locate the manufacturer of this board so I can get the correct manual now? Where should the manufacturer's name be on the board? Thank you for your help...if you have any questions to help you help me, do not hesitate to email me direct.

Try here
http://www.motherboards.org/moboidtools.html

or here
http://www.ping.be/bios/index.html?http ... sami.shtml

Depending which bios u have, then the seach there should get your manufacturer. One of those places has always helped me but it might take some searching. ;)

Doh! I just realized ami is your bios, american megatrends.
Actually go here first and scroll down the the AMI part
http://www.computercraft.com/docs/mbid.html
or here, they have a utilty that will get your bios string
http://www.motherboards.org/mobocop/biosstringid.html

That should help ya.

that board looks a LOT like the Matsonic slotA boards of old (pre kx133). I only saw a few of them, and they were green just like that one (odd for Matsonic). You may want to try following the Matsonic layout to see if it works... worst thing that can happen if I'm wrong is the computer won't boot.

good luck

Hey thanks again for the responses. However, I can not get the computer to boot into the bios, or I would be ok. I need a diagram of the mobo to even get the stupid thing to boot. It is an ATX board and I need to know where the power and reset buttons hook up to the board beofore I can even get to the bios, so all those links will not help me yet. Any more suggestions?

Are there no silkscreened abbreviations around the prongs ?

HDD.LED ; PWRON, etc ... ?

If not, you've got a problem there that might require you taking it to some mom & pop comp. shop to get it connected.

I remember my first system didn't have the wire plugs marked, that was real fun. :|

YEs, we have discovered that htis is the Jabil Kadoka AMD motherboard. However, I have contacted Gateway and they refuse to provide technical support on this board, because I did not buy it direct from them. After a $15.50 tech support call to them, they finally told me that they have a one piece connector that is in thier cases for this front panel connector, and that is why it is not labeled on the board. They told me that they would be happy to sell me one of their refurbished cases, if I wanted to go that route...and I told them to kiss my @$$. So, I am still lost on this problem and am currently seeking information on the Jabil boards, to no avail so far. So, I still need your help, please.

found a phone number for Jabil's Headquarters. (727) 577-9749

I'd call them tomorrow and see if they can route you to a tech with half a brain.

Sounds like Gateway was a start, but not the answer :(

AHHH they have an office in Auburn Hills! I've been buy that place to many times to count, it's on the way to my fiance's house!

umm....long distance....I don't know if it is worth it. hehe I guess I will call them as a last resort. I also read somewhere that not all power supplies will power an Athalon at all, so I may also have to upgrade that. Who knows? This has become a very hard project......but I know it is worth it. I can invest more money and time in it after Christmas. I may just end up buying a new mobo...any suggestions for a good one with 3 USB ports? Thanks again, Matt

I like the Gigabyte and Asus boards. But niether of them support extra usb ports (that I know of) until you get to thier socket A boards.

BTW I just called Jabil's local office. The digbat I talked to on the phone didn't even know they made motherboards (goes to show how on top of things this company is). I did however talk with a technician who was more than willing to look it up for me and call me back free of charge (nice part about a local office). I'll let you know as soon as I hear from him.
