As my first post here, I'd like to say its nice to see how well the board is doing now. Hope it continues to grow.

But now, down to business :)

Ok I know this question has been asked plenty of times. But heres the deal, I can't seem to get my Celeron 633 to work on my Asus P2-B. I've got the latest BIOS revision (1012), which I know supports Coppermines, and of course the C-633. Over at Overclockers.com, there are people posting their C-633 chips, on a P2-b, with the 1012 Bios revision. The thing I think it must be, is the Slocket I just got. I had to get a very crappy generic, that does support fcpga chips, but doesnt support voltage adjustment (but it does support Intel, *and* Cyrix chips! bah..)

All system/jumper settings are correct. Not overclocked, but processor tested to work at default speed, and higher.

So my question is this: Could the Slocket be screwed up, even though it is brand new? Or could it be something else that I'm not thinking of? I can't even bootup. The system acts like there isn't a processor in it at all.

Thanks for any and all help :)

Welcome Foolio! Glad ya made it :)

Have you tried reseating the slotket in the mobo and also the cpu on the slotket? Sometimes they can be very picky.
And has everything else worked ok like the ram and video card? If so then it does sound like the slotket causing the trouble, unless u have a bad cpu. I'd also double check all the connections to be sure nothing was unplugged when u installed it. I've done that before.

Only way to know for sure if to test each part on another setup, if that's possible. Like any friends locally. good luck :)

Thanks for the warm welcome Blade.
I have tried reseating the slocket, the processor, everything multible times. Also, I'm sure everything else is working fine. I'm just swapping the chips for an upgrade. It's bugging the heck out of me. Everywhere locally is out of stock for any of the good slockets. Only one place has these cheap generics. So that means that I've got to order one in and wait to get it. But anyway, thanks again for your help :)

Update: This slocket does work with a ppga chip. Any other ideas?

I have heard of some slockets having problems like this.

It does sound like the slocket you got is only for pcga celerons. I would get another slocket like <A href="http://www.iwillusa.com/products/spec.a ... me=Slocket II&SupportID=" title="Iwill slocket II spec page" target="_new">iwills Slocket II </a> and see what the result is Foolio.
