Hey guys, I've been deliberating on my current memory setup.

Right now I've got a 2500 barton running in a Soltek 75FRNL2. I have a couple of these in there right now,[LINK]. I paid about $210 CAD after tax for these, and they're fine. But the thing is, when I bought them I was thinking about overclocking, but I've decided not to. Now I've got some pretty nice sticks of ram just chilling out, wasting away.

Recently, NCIX put 512meg Samsung pc3200 sticks on sale for about 110 CAD. I'm thinking of selling the two OCZ sticks, and buying 2, 512 modules.

I'd like to have that gig of ram, and the price seems right. My only question is, would I be able to get a decent price for these OCZ sticks? They're about a month old, and I"ve got the packaging and all that. I would hate to sell them for a lot less than I paid for them.

What do you guys think? Shall I post them in the buy& sell forum and see what I can get?


(by the way, I've also got 512 megs of Samsung pc2100 that I'm gonna sell, so I'm thinking I can cover the costs of the new ram with that)

Hmm, I would say this, it wouldn't hurt to try.

Like already said it cant hurt to try however OCZ does not have a good reputation especially around here so you may have a hard time selling it. That being said sooner or later someone will buy it. For your next ram purchase I would look at something other than OCZ but that is just my opinion, and maybe the opinion of a few others around here.

Heh I wasn't going to try to hurt his chances of a sale any and say that, but yeah, what he said. They don't have a good rep, especially since if you check out the memory, by taking off the heatspreaders, you'll see if you look closely that the memory is rebranded, usually samsung.

komusa.com usually has good prices on samsung memory. I shop there often. Have there samsung 433 stuff in my rig right now running at 420fsb. 1g worth

haha, no worries about telling the truth fellas. I respect an honest opinion as much as the next guy. Actually, I appreciate it. Good to know what I have before I try selling it.

The biggest reason I bought it was because it was on sale. That, and I don't know too much about memory, so mark that one up to being uninformed.

Right now I'm running at a FSB of 166. I'll be buying 3200 ram though, because that's what my board is capable of, and you never know when you'll swap out procs.

I think I'll go ahead and grab those samsung 512's from ncix, and try my luck here, and later on ebay if no one wants it here.

Thanks for the input though guys. I just wanted to see what a few more people thought before I went ahead and bought the new stuff.


oh, by the way. nexus_7, that site only ships to the states, so says their website. thanks anyways though. the sale price at ncix is a bit better with the conversion too.

The other thing you have to watch out for when you buy memory these days is that they sell stuff that is overclocked.

For instance, I think it was komusa, if not some other company like them, sells ram at ddr 400 speed. Well it was an overclocked 333 module. Only when you buy the gold version, silver version is it actually ddr 400 ram. The gold version gives you a longer warranty as well. So you really have to watch these peeps.

When I get memory now, I put the numbers on the ram in google, and check it out. That's how I found out I was using overclocked ddr 333 in the first place. Otherwise I might have never known except possibly some reliablity problems in the future.

From my experience, this place has been pretty decent about selling legit stuff, but I'll still check it out.
