USB Mouse Connection.

I just replaced my old Fellowes usb-5 button mouse that was working fine in the usb port
that it was connected to with my new NexxTech usb-8 button mouse, but when I plugged
it into the usb port that the old one was in the pointer just froze. I ended up having to
use the NexxTech usb-to-ps2 converter and connect the my mouse via the ps2 port.
I don't know if I'm for getting something or what, but I thought all I had to do is unplug the
old usb mouse and plug in the new one and that would be that. Like my old mouse, I didn't
install all the fancy MS-centric features, I just want to use the built in usb mouse drive
that comes with WinMe so that I can connect mouse via usb the way my keyboard is.
Perhaps someone hear can give me the steps for connecting my mouse via a usb 2.0
connection, I'm running WinMe and all input on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
