duron question
no probs here
i just put together a duron 800 system for a friend today...used all his old stuff and just swapped in the new mobo (asus A7V) and the duron 800. the mobo allowed me to choose between PC100 or PC133, and i believe all KT133 chipsets will (correct me if i'm wrong).
his PS is only 250W max...and it's running fine with a CD-ROM, Burner, 2 HD's, NIC, floppy, etc.

"can you use pc100 with the durons or does it have to be pc133" You don't have to use pc100 memory pimpin joe. On via chipset motherboards like the asus A7V you can run the memory and system bus at different speeds. Note that your memory bandwidth will be higher having memory run at a higher speed of 133Mhz.
You can use a 250watt power supply. Personally I always use 300 watt power supplies and bigger.

pimpin joe hope you dont mind
PJ I hope you dont mind if I ask a question of the AMD guys in your thread instead of starting a new one.
But have any of you guys used Viking PC133 CL3 ram in a Duron/T-bird rig?I'm thinking of getting a A7V and slapping a Duron or t-bird on there(my first recent AMD combo).I have a Antec 300W power supply so I believe I'll be ok there.
Thanks in advance

i have run crucial -7.5 cas3 and transcend -7.5 on cheap pcb and both seem to work fine - on abit k7t i have been able to get a fsb of 120 @ 7x with the transcent, but when you turn the multiplier up to 9 or more the fsb comes down currently running 9x108, but have also run at 9.5 x 105 -
