WDC Velociraptor vs OCZ Vertex SSD Drive

I'm seriously considering replacing my 74Gb Raptor boot drive with a 30 or 60Gb OCZ Vertex SSD drive.

NewEgg sells the 30Gb for $149 and the 60Gb for $219: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... ex&x=0&y=0

The only thing I've been warned about is keeping these drive's firmware updated, since they're apparently tweaking performance all the time.
Also there's were some known stuttering issues that are discussed on OCZ forums but don't seem to be as much of a problem now. But the benchmarks are impressive, and I like the idea of a silent drive. My Raptor is pretty noisy and I hear the Velociraptors are just as noisy or even worse:

I'm gonna hold out till I can get 100gb(ish) for under $200 on one of the newer (more reliable & les studdering) versions. For now, my 3 74gb 15,000rpm drives have the speed down. They sure kick out the heat & noise though.

So are these serial interface or do I need another interface for them to work?

Yup, SATA pretty much is the future for the time being. They're even using them in data centers now. Used to be that SCSI was the pro stuff & IDE was consumer. No more.

My brother got a 30gb SSD for our new gateway server. Quite a nice drive. It's been reliable and fast. I don't remember which brand though.
