Eh, don't count on it XD But extra RAM is sweet. Little Dell I bought a while back had a quad core and 6GB of DDR3. Only way I can max it out is if I run a bunch of VMWares in it. Windows 7 Memory Management :w oot

Welcome to the club. It's amazing how quickly you can use it up on Photoshop if you try.

after my recent rebuild, i'm still running on 4GB. no problems at that amount, but as normalicy said, 8GB is ideal these days Photoshop type work. it looks like the RAM i bought a few months ago is not over $20 less, so i'll probably pick up another 4GB soon.

Yeah I just upgraded from 4 to 8Gb because NewEgg had a nice Black Friday deal on RAM. Honestly, I didn't NEED but yeah, Photoshop sure likes it.

Well the problem is that Win7 really shines with 3Gb or more (XP can run nicely on 2Gb). Also the x64 versions of Windows runs better with 4Gb or more. Not because it's inherently more memory hungry, but because you're using twice the memory bandwidth with each CPU cycle, so there's a bit more overhead.

I have x64 windows vista with 8gb. I've never seen it go over 60%. Generally hovers at 30-35% usage. DDR2 was extremely cheap at the time (2 years ago was $120 for 8gb).

With how much of a RAM hog flash stuff is these days... You can't really say you have enough...

Still running Windows XP with 4GB of RAM. This old rig isn't worth much more effort, will likely stack out the next one though.

I loaded Windows 7 btw to test it out on my old POS laptop with less than a gig of memory. Vista never ran that good, regardless of the service pack.
When all else fails, replace the user.
