Well the problem is that Win7 really shines with 3Gb or more (XP can run nicely on 2Gb). Also the x64 versions of Windows runs better with 4Gb or more. Not because it's inherently more memory hungry, but because you're using twice the memory bandwidth with each CPU cycle, so there's a bit more overhead.

With how much of a RAM hog flash stuff is these days... You can't really say you have enough...
Still running Windows XP with 4GB of RAM. This old rig isn't worth much more effort, will likely stack out the next one though.
I loaded Windows 7 btw to test it out on my old POS laptop with less than a gig of memory. Vista never ran that good, regardless of the service pack.
