John's wife needs assist - looking for external HDD

Post by darcy »

I received email from Elmdea requesting assist, -

"all I'm looking for is a basic external hard drive that I can plug into and transfer files. I don't need top of the line (and couldn't afford it any way). I've looked around and there are so many choices. I've no idea how to weed out the poorly designed/won't hold up from the well designed and should be good for years.

Please thank the PCA folk in advance and let them know I need simple."

[ Currently has Win7; will update to Win10 soon, if that matters;
ASUS, 8GB RAM, HDD capacity - 931.51GB ]

One or 2 recommendations I can give her? Thank you : )

I would recommend a USB portabe, not a desktop model. I have had very good luck with Toshiba Canvio drives. I assume she knows how to copy files and doesn't need backup software?
